Now I’m a caretaker. That means I enjoy taking care of people and taking responsibility for things they should be taking responsibility for. There comes a point, though, where you realize you can’t do that anymore; or you realize that all it’s doing is dragging you down. Of course you love taking care of people, but sometimes you have to step back from that for yourself. You have your own life and family to be responsible for. Maybe you’re really stressed out and you realize that taking responsibility for things you shouldn’t is just beating you up.

Learn your breaking point. Learn when it’s time to stop and focus on yourself. You can’t let things that aren’t your responsibility break you down and be the reason you can’t be happy. Take time to focus on yourself every once in a while.
